Simpson Strong-Tie Half Base

Simpson Strong-Tie Half Base is a versatile component from the BC series designed to serve as a dual-purpose post cap or base for light cap or base connections. Crafted from durable 18-gauge galvanized steel, this product ensures reliable performance and corrosion resistance, with some sizes also available featuring a ZMAX coating for enhanced protection. It is important to note that bolts should not be installed into the pilot holes; instead, installation requires 16d common nails or 16d x 2-1/2" joist hanger nails. The Half Base is ideal for applications where top support is present, as it does not provide sufficient resistance to prevent rotation of members about the base and is therefore not recommended for installations like fences or unbraced carports. Available in multiple sizes to accommodate different post dimensions, each Half Base package includes six 16d fasteners for secure attachment to the post flange. This product combines strength, ease of installation, and adaptability to meet various construction needs.
