Schluter Schiene 3/8 in. Aluminum is expertly designed to provide durable edging for tile coverings, making it ideal for edge protection where tile meets carpet, at expansion joints, or as a decorative stair edging. Crafted from high-quality aluminum, this profile features a trapezoid-perforated anchoring leg that securely embeds in the mortar bond coat beneath the tile. Its 87° sloped vertical wall effectively transfers point loads to the substrate and surface covering, protecting tile edges from damage. The design includes a 5° sloped top flange and a fillet at the anchoring leg and vertical section interface, which reduces stress on tiles for enhanced edge protection. For sizes greater than 1/4" (6 mm), it also incorporates an integrated joint spacer to create a defined joint cavity between the tile and the profile. Additionally, the anchoring leg is available with a special radius perforation "R" that allows the profile to be used for curved installations.
