Sorby TurnMaster Shank w/Square TCC Cutter is the un-handled version of Robert Sorby's versatile RSTM-SCT3 TurnMaster Tool, featuring a square tungsten carbide cutter (TCC). This tool is ideal for external roughing work and waste removal, and it also performs well for tenoning and other straight-line operations. The TurnMaster is the first woodturning tool in the world to combine three cutting-edge technologies in one highly adaptable design. Its collection of interchangeable parts and cutters makes it the most flexible and value-added single turning tool available today. The TurnMaster accepts three standard cutters—square, round, or detail—as well as a variety of other cutting tips specially designed for use with it. The patented interchangeable cutter head locks into three positions, enabling both scraping for fast material removal and shear scraping for fine finishing and smoothing. The round shank features a flat underside for stability on the rest, secured by a high tensile strength Torx screw to keep cutters tight, and includes a special key for quick cutter release. Cutters come in three materials: tungsten carbide (TC), high-speed steel (HSS), and titanium nitride (TiN) coated Excelsior tips. This allows turners to select the perfect cutter for their material, whether it’s roughing abrasive exotic woods or achieving clean detail and fine finishing. The TiN coated Excelsior tips provide added toughness and prolonged edge life, while both HSS and TiN cutters can be re-sharpened. The RSTM-SCT3 includes a Square Tungsten Carbide cutter, Cutter Release Key, Torx Wrenches, and an Instruction Sheet.
